Pretzel Cowboy Sliders (Print)

Beef patties with bacon, cheddar, and onions on pretzel buns

# What You’ll Need:

→ Slider Patties

01 - 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
02 - 1 tsp salt
03 - ½ tsp black pepper
04 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
05 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

→ Toppings

06 - 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
07 - 8 slices cooked bacon
08 - 1 cup crispy fried onions
09 - ½ cup barbecue sauce
10 - 2 jalapeños, thinly sliced (optional)

→ Assembly

11 - 8 mini pretzel slider buns
12 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
13 - 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives (optional)

# How To Make:

01 - Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high temperature.
02 - Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Mix gently until just incorporated.
03 - Divide beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape into small patties, making them slightly larger than the pretzel buns to account for shrinkage.
04 - Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached. Add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty during the final minute to melt.
05 - Split pretzel buns in half and brush cut sides with melted butter. Grill or skillet-toast until golden brown.
06 - Place beef patties on bun bottoms. Layer with bacon slices, fried onions, jalapeño slices if desired, and drizzle with barbecue sauce.
07 - Cover with bun tops and secure with skewers if preferred. Garnish with fresh chives. Serve immediately while hot.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The pretzel buns create that perfect chewy exterior that holds everything together beautifully
  • These come together in under an hour but taste like they took all day to perfect
02 -
  • Do not overmix your beef or the patties will turn tough and dense instead of tender and juicy
  • Let the cheese melt completely on the patties before removing them from the heat
03 -
  • Make a small indentation in the center of each raw patty to prevent them from puffing up in the middle
  • Let the patties rest for a couple minutes after grilling so the juices redistribute
